I purchased OpenDNS VIP to set up a White List on kid's iMac. He wastes too much time on Facebook and eBay and other sites and it is causing him to fail school. Now that I have purchased an account I am trying to set it up. I thought all I would need to do it get a set of DNS addresses, configure my whitelist on a website and insert the DNS addresses either on the wireless router, on his computer or both.
Now that I purchased VIP I created a "network" and have looked through the instructions I could find and am confused. My configuration is as follows,
Fios Actiontek router sends ethernet to adult computers (adult computers do not use wireless) and bridged Quantum router behind it sends wireless to kids. One of the kids with an iMac needs the whitelist. He is not the admin. Questions below,
Do I need to install the Dynamic IP updater on the Quantum router that broadcasts the wireless?
Do I need to install the Dynamic IP Updater on the iMac and is it ok that he is not the administrator and administrator (me) will rarely be logged on?
Why can I not find white List options from my Dashboard? Just see configurations groups and "either always allow" or "always block" for individual sites?
In a previous posting you noted that to block youtube you had to add two names. One was obvious (like www.youtube) and the other did not make sense to me ?
