Netgear Parental Controls questions and reboot required?
I've been messing with the parental controls to block certain domains since Netgear's interface only has a way to block specific websites instead of domains. So for example if I want to block yahoo.com it will but if you go to yahoo.com/news it will be able to access. I get that.
So I setup parental controls with opendns. I found a tutorial online and it explains that after you sign in to your opendns account you can set the filter level (through the Netgear Genie) which I then set. I then go to custom setting where it will take me to a netgear/opendns site where login and you can add domains on the white/blacklists. My question IS, when I add a domain should it be instantaneously blocked? Or do I need to reboot the router for it to take effect? From my experiences after hours messing with this, it seems a reboot is required. Simply adding yahoo.com will not prevent it from being blocked but after a reboot of the router it seems to be blocked. Also, when I set the filter level from Minimal to High, a reboot is also required for this to work as well. Is this the way it should work?
Also, for non https sites, I get the openDNS has blocked this site. But on https sites I get "Your connection is not private. Attackers may be trying to steal your information........" From what I can tell there is noway to get into these sites. Is that the way that should work as well?
Thank you.

Yes, if you also flushed your local caches after this settings change.
