How to whitelist certain devices to not be blocked for custom filtering

    I guess that you configured the OpenDNS resolver addresses on the router, so that it takes effect on all connected devices.  If you want certain devices to be exempted from OpenDNS control, you simply configure a different (non-OpenDNS) DNS service on these specific devices.

    And yes, if you falsely assumed that OpenDNS VIP can control DNS by device, then you spent the money for nothing.  Only Cisco Umbrella (the version for corporations) with AD integration can enable policies per device and user.

    Thanks for the quick feedback,  I don't think Google Wifi allows me to have two different DNS entries for specific devices so I would have to do it on the clients then.

    Yes, exactly this is what I meant.  You configure a different DNS service on the client devices which should not be controlled by OpenDNS.

    Not only Google WiFi doesn't allow this.  I'm not aware that this is supported at all on any router.
