Dangers of OpenDNSUpdater
Just a reminder of the danger that we've discussed before. It is risky to install any OpenDNS updater on a laptop or mobile device. It is perfectly safe to install it on a desktop or a laptop that you only use in one location.
If you install it on a laptop and then take it to Starbucks, it will
- change your network IP to that of the new location, as designed,
- if the new location uses OpenDNS, change their settings
- leave you old location unprotected as that IP is no longer recognized by the DNS system.
I thought this would have been addressed by now, but I just tried it again. OpenDNS now shows the IP of my home network as being that of my work network leaving all my devices at home unprotected and gathering statistics from the wrong machines.
The workaround is to only install the updater on machines that don't roam around.
Hope that helps,
Brad.

No, the workaround is to use Marc's Updater instead where you can configure under what circumstances the updates should take effect, based on WLAN SSID and/or DHCP server address.
