This is because you are not using OpenDNS now, i.e. your DNS queries do not go to OpenDNS, but to a different DNS service.

    Thank you, rotblitz!

So even though I point DNS on the secondary router to openDNS, it still doesn't work? Is this because primary router takes over DNS for the secondary and uses ISP dns?

I have this as DNS servers for the secondary router.

    208.67.222.222

    208.67.220.220

    208.67.222.220

    Also attached the screenshot

Can you think of what I'm missing? Is it at all possible to have different DNS servers on a secondary router?

    Thank you,

    Nik

This all depends on how your routers are connected. I cannot know how this is and what you mean by primary and secondary router. Also the router mode is important, NAT or bridged. My idea would be to experiment with different configurations to see which one works.

By secondary router I mean a router that is plugged into a LAN port of the primary router (primary is plugged into modem). Secondary router doesn't extend wifi network of the first router, but creates a separate wifi network. I want adults to stay on the network of the first router and kids be on the second. Both networks work fine, except I want to drive traffic from the second network through OpenDNS. Can you provide a link to resources where I can read more about NAT/bridged config?

Thanks for the explanation. What you did should work, but doesn’t. I don’t know why. Something prevents the DNS traffic to go to OpenDNS from the secondary router.

Regarding NAT/bridged, an Internet search should help.
