Namecheap with DNSomatic A Records

So I have been trying to use DNS-O-Matic with my domain on namecheap example.com.

In my admin panel of Namecheap I am a bit lost for what record should be created, so that dnsomatic would be updated. I tried creating an A-Record for @ pointing at 127.0.0.1 which didn't work. As suggested here: https://support.opendns.com/hc/en-us/community/posts/220007527/comments/224483067 I then created an A-Record for * pointing at 127.0.0.1 at my domain.

My configuration on DNSOMATIC for Namecheap service is as following:

host: "@"
password: "my_ddns_password_provided_by_namecheap"
domain: "example.com"

I am using an Unifi Security Gateway which is configured correctly. This can be shown as per my correctly working DDNS on DuckDNS. Here I just entered the token and everything worked correctly for the provided domain on DuckDNS.

but I just couldn't get the point what I am missing. On my DNSOMATIC dashboard it just says waiting for update on the namecheap entrys. I also pushed an update as mentioned here: https://support.opendns.com/hc/en-us/community/posts/115006414668/comments/115002378347

So if anybody would be so kind to explain to me what I am missing on configuring my Namecheap domain or on my DNSOMATIC dashboard I would really appreciate that!

According to https://support.opendns.com/hc/en-us/community/posts/115000587527/comments/115000999808 it is an error which cannot be remediated.

Well that is quite unfortunate. So there is no real efficient way of having multiple DDNS Domains from Namecheap...
