All settings fine but no blocking in OpenDNS
Hi,
I have looked at posts and videos, all of my settings seem fine but no blocking. Here is what I have checked:
1. Nslookup debug
C:\Users\XPS>nslookup -type=txt debug.opendns.com.
Server: resolver1.opendns.com
Address: 208.67.222.222
Non-authoritative answer:
debug.opendns.com text =
"server m21.jnb"
debug.opendns.com text =
"flags 40020 0 50 1800000000000000000039500007E00400014C3"
debug.opendns.com text =
"originid 369210920"
debug.opendns.com text =
"actype 2"
debug.opendns.com text =
"bundle 12483514"
debug.opendns.com text =
"source 155.93.137.172:55689"
2. nslookup
C:\Users\XPS>nslookup -type=txt which.opendns.com. 208.67.222.220
Server: resolver3.opendns.com
Address: 208.67.222.220
Non-authoritative answer:
which.opendns.com text =
"m25.jnb"

4. This is my Router config:
I am no expert (in fact far from that) but it all seems OK, so what do I do next. The only thing I can think is that the router just ignores the DNS settings, but that seems strange. Should I get a new router? I am sure it is something silly I am doing but I really do not know what!

Your command outputs and your router are fine. What does http://welcome.opendns.com/ show up with? What browser are you using? In case of Chrome you need to disable lite mode and secure DNS.

Hi rotblitz, I am using Firefox, are there any special things to do with that? The response I get for http://welcome.opendns.com/ is sadly the oops screen.

Hi,
I went and checked in Firefox, from v63, you can set it to use OpenDNS over https. I have put the settings in here for info. Thanks a lot for your help, it was your comment about Chrome that gave me the idea. So far this seems to be working!
Mozilla Firefox
Details and instructions are available from Mozilla. Firefox can be configured to use OpenDNS as a custom DNS over HTTPS provider. Go to Options > General > Network Settings and select Enable DNS over HTTPS. Under Use Provider, choose Custom and enter one of the following URLs:
Standard DNS:
https://doh.opendns.com/dns-query
FamilyShield (blocks adult content):
