Your command output looks very good.  What browser are you using?

In Chrome (and similar) you must disable Lite mode and must disable or reconfigure secure DNS, else you will be using Google's DNS service, not OpenDNS.

In FireFox (and similar) you must disable or reconfigure secure DNS too, else you may be using CloudFlare's DNS service.

Thanks. I primarily use Chrome but also have FireFox and Edge/Explorer. My Chrome is not using "secure DNS" but it does say it is managed (it is not as far as I know this is my personal system). I also checked FF and the CloudFlare is not enabled. I tried all 3 browers without success.

Then visit https://www.dnsleaktest.com/ or https://dnsleak.com/ to see what DNS service you are actually using.  Knowing this might give you a hint how to solve the issue.

You may also post the command output of:

    nslookup whoami.akamai.net.

This shows what DNS service's IP address the Akamai authoritative nameservers see from your DNS lookup.  You can then check who owns this IP address.

OK so this is interesting - the below is what I show from DNS leak. I have no clue what that 207 address is from or where it is coming from.

    IPHostnameISPCountry

    207.244.85.141NoneLeaseweb-usa-wdcBethesda, United States

    208.69.32.68m29.ash.opendns.com.Cisco OpenDNS, LLCAshburn, United States

I believe I have figured this out. Avast has a "Real Site" protection app that is running. When I disable this, OpenDNS works.

Indeed!  This is a known issue, not only with Avast, but also with AVG.
