New phishing email looks like it came from Cisco OpenDNS
Be advised of a phishing email going out to customers, including old customers that looks like it's from Cisco support for OpenDNS accounts! We don't use paypal for our OpenDNS account so it sent up a red flag.
Here is the contents of the phishing email:
Date: Thu, Sep 2, 2021, 4:49 PM
Subject: PayPal no longer accepted as a payment method for OpenDNS
To: <-------------------------account email address------------------->
Hi OpenDNS user!
Our records indicate that you are currently using PayPal as the payment method to renew your OpenDNS subscription.
As of October 1st, 2021, OpenDNS no longer accepts PayPal as a payment method for the renewal of existing service. Customers who are currently using PayPal will need to update their payment method to include a valid credit card before their service expiry to maintain service.
You can find complete instructions for updating your payment method in the following article on OpenDNS’ support site:
Any renewals due after October 1st 2021 will fail to be processed if a valid credit card has not been submitted. Please let us know if you are unable to update your payment method before this time.
Thanks for continuing to use OpenDNS!
Regards,
Cisco Cloud Security Customer Success Team
